Brisbane coach Chris Fagan says his club has returned to its best in the past fortnight, despite sitting on top of the ladder with only one defeat to their name.
By their own admission, the Lions hadn't hit their straps to begin season 2025, but continued to bank the all-important wins in stark contrast to last year.
But the victory over Gold Coast was damning, sending shock waves through the competition that the Queensland club is just getting started.
"I feel like the past two weeks we're getting back to somewhere near what we look like when we play our best footy," Fagan said.
"The boys have embraced the pressure stuff and team defence side of things, and we've got good results on the back of that."
Brisbane's midfield was superb against the Suns outfit, led by father-son gun Will Ashcroft, who, fittingly, was awarded the Marcus Ashcroft Medal for best afield in the QClash.
As a result of the impressive form, Fagan will have difficulty selecting a team each week, with a host of regular names in the VFL or currently out of the side.
Logan Morris (calf) and Kai Lohmann (ankle) were absent from the Round 8 victory, while Keidean Coleman returned from 14 months on the sidelines to the VFL after suffering an ACL injury early in 2024.
Coleman was arguably Brisbane's best, gathering 28 disposals, 10 marks and five tackles.
"Selection is going to be hard, but it's a good problem to have," Fagan said.
"The guys that are in (the AFL team) are performing, and I'm reluctant to change a group that are doing a good job."
Selection will be made slightly easier as forward-ruck Sam Day injured his hamstring against his former side, and could miss the next few weeks.
"You'd think he probably doesn't play this week (against North Melbourne in Hobart). He'll probably miss a little bit of time," Fagan said.
