Chris Fagan set to be named new Brisbane coach

The Brisbane Lions have appointed Hawthorn football boss Chris Fagan as the club's new senior coach, according to AFL.com.au.

The other candidates were reportedly told today that they have been unsuccessful.

Fagan, 55, has been at the Hawks since 2008, where he was the head of coaching and development until 2013, before he became Hawthorn's general manager of football, a role which he has occupied for the past three years.

Previous to that he was an assistant coach at North Melbourne from 1998 to 1999 and Melbourne from 2000 to 2005, and a general manager of football at the Dees from 2005 to 2007.

Fagan also played 275 games in Tasmania.

The Lions are set to announce the appointment on Tuesday.
