Former Hawthorn President and Premier of Victoria Jeff Kennett, has returned to take up the presidency at the Hawks once again.

Current President, Richard Garvey announced his resignation on Wednesday morning, "accepting responsibility for a recent Board decision", the club said in a statement.

The Hawks' board then ratified that Kennett assume the presidency once more, subject to a members' vote at the Annual General Meeting in December.

Garvey will continue as a director.

Kennett was President of the Hawks from December 2005 until the end of the 2011 season.
