Adelaide forward Mitch McGovern has signed a three-year contract extension that will see him remain a Crow until at least the end of the 2020 season.

Fremantle had reportedly offered the 22-year-old forward a five-year deal worth over $700,000 a season, but he rejected the offer and has committed his future to Adelaide.

McGovern has kicked 51 goals in 35 games for the Crows since he was drafted with thew 43rd pick in the 2014 National Draft.

“I love the playing group I’m playing with, but also the staff and everyone involved,” McGovern told afc.com.au.

“The culture is fantastic here. It’s one of the best-run clubs that I can see and I’m glad to be a part of it.

“I’m pretty excited for the future ahead.”

Adelaide's General Manager of List Management and Strategy Justin Reid told the club's website they were thrilled to have kept McGovern at the club.

“We’re thrilled that Mitch wants to be part of the environment we’ve created at the Club,” Reid told afc.com.au.

“He plays an important role within our exciting forward line and is a player we think has enormous upside.

“Mitch is part of a core group of players to commit to the Club and we’re excited for the future together.”
