Former West Coast Eagles star Ben Cousins has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

The premiership player was also fined $2,400 after being found guilty of stalking and drug offences.

Cousins was sentenced in Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday after he had earlier this month pleaded guilty to 11 offences, including repeatedly breaching a violence restraining order and drug possession.

The Court heard that Cousins contacted his former partner over 2,000 times from September last year until his arrest last month, which included 103 times in one day, despite the violence restraining order.

The year-long prison sentence has been backdated to February 24.

He has already spent the past month behind bars since his arrest.
