An AFL player is currently being investigated by Victoria Police over an alleged sexual assault.
The Age are reporting that the player is from the Melbourne Football Club, and the Demons have confirmed they are aware of the allegation and investigation, relating to a matter that occurred in Bali during September this year.
Victoria Police recently released a statement on the alleged incident.
โOn October 2 Victoria Police received a report about an alleged sexual offence that occurred in Bali in September this year,โ the statement said.
โPolice have spoken to the complainant however the complainant has not engaged investigators further and a formal statement has not been made.
โThe complainant was advised that primacy of the investigation will sit with Indonesian authorities.
โVictoria Policeโs priority is the victimโs safety and welfare.
โThey are always in control of what happens next.
โThe reality is that some victims come to us to have their story heard, but they may not want to go through the process of a court case.
โWe want victims to receive the assistance they deserve โ whether that be from us or from support services.โ
