Essendon has been fined $200,000 by the Melbourne Magistrates Court for breaching Victorian workplace safety laws in relation to the 2012 supplements program.
“There was a risk that Essendon players might be given substances in a manner that could be harmful to their health,” WorkSafe stated in court documents.
“Between December 2011 and 15 January 2012 substances were administered to players without the measures described ... being complied with.
“Essendon players were exposed to risks to their health and safety by your failure to provide and maintain the system of work described.”
