Essendon is confident Michael Hurley will be fit to face Geelong in the club's final JLT Series match in a fortnight, despite the key defender limping off during the Bombers' three-point loss to the Suns yesterday.

Hurley, who injured his ankle during an intra-club match on February 3, aggravated the injury in the last quarter on Sunday and took no further part in the game.

However, the club is confident it is only a minor setback.

"It didn't look too bad, so I'm pretty confident he'll be up and going soon," coach John Worsfold said post game.

Hurley collected 18 disposals, five marks and two tackles in the loss.
