Former Western Bulldogs great Robert Murphy has revealed that Gary Ablett Snr is the best player he's ever seen.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest ever players, Ablett boasts one of the most decorated resumes in the game, including four All Australians, three Coleman Medals and booted 1031 goals in 248 games.

Murphy believes Ablett changed the game.

“When I was growing up … it was like he opened a portal to what was possible,” Murphy told SEN’s Bob and Andy.

“There are players who have been unbelievable but in an orthodox kind of way. Gary Ablett Senior changed what we thought was possible - there was nothing he couldn’t do.

“I’ve settled on Gary Ablett Snr.”
