By hook or by crook, a number of Carlton fans will be kitted up in hot property for their side's season opener against Richmond on Thursday after the Blues' official shop suffered a break-in on Tuesday night.

The shop, located inside the club's Princes Park headquarters had its front window smashed overnight, with the perpetrator, or perpetrators, making off with an unpublished quantity of official merchandise.

As first reported by Andrew McCormack of 7News, a fire hydrant cover was used to shatter the window facing Royal Parade, with police arriving on the scene on Wednesday morning.

At present, Carlton's online webstore remains open for business, with less than a day to go before Michael Voss' side starts their fight for a September birth in earnest.

Earlier this week, fellow rookies Lachlan Cowan and Oliver Hollands were told that they would be making their debuts for their boyhood clubs.

Both Cowan and Hollands were drafted within the top-30 selections of the 2022 AFL Draft and fill needs off half-back and on a wing respectively.

Thursday night's traditional season opener between the Blues and Tigers promises to be the most hotly contested fixture between the two bitter rivals since the annual clash became lore in 2008.

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) have deemed the game a Catagory 1 fixture, with all Long Room, Balcony and Dining Passes now closed or allotted.

Last season's opener saw 71,179 supporters click through the turnstiles to see Carlton come from behind to claim a 25-point victory.
