Carlton senior coach Michael Voss was a picture of joy and relief after his side broke a six-game losing streak by beating the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.

After a sluggish beginning to proceedings, the Blues dominated the remainder of the contest, prevailing by 59 points as Carlton's attack got back into some form.

Speaking to the media post-game, the second-year Blues boss admitted that while he was pleased with his team's effort, he was also relieved to break their skid.

"Some joy, more relief," said Voss with a smile. "[Going into] the bye, we probably get to smile for a little while, we haven't had that for quite a period of time."

Voss noted he was anticipating a bounce-back game from his disciples at some stage, going on to mention that it will be nice to rest and recuperate over the course of the next week.

"I sort of thought a performance like that has been on the cards for a couple of weeks and hasn't been necessarily put all together, so to be able to go into the bye with a smile on the face and the four points in the pocket, get our rest because it's been a very long time, 14 weeks without a rest," Voss said.

"So, we'll recharge, recover, we'll spend a bit of time as a team on what that looks like for us and when we get back, but we'll take the rest and the recovery and also the four points."

Quizzed on external pressure from the media and others alike, Voss stated that his side has remained "unified" during their torrid stretch.

"There's lots of commentary, clearly, it's a lot of commentary on the footy club, so that can sort of test your direction and where you want to go," he continued.

"I'm pleased that we've got four points, let's sort of put it in perspective.

"The club has been really unified through this period of time, and we're really clear on what we think will help us moving forward and I think that's probably the most significant thing that's come out of this, is for us, not just as a footy team, but as a footy club, to be able to stay really tight through that time and believe where we're going.

"We know we're not there yet, we're not suggesting that, but it certainly did test that for periods of time.

"There's been a storm on the outside but it's been calm inside."

After the Blues' bye next weekend, they will prepare to face Hawthorn in Round 16.
