Carlton forward Jarrod Pickett will miss at least the first half of the season after sustained a wrist injury at training on Thursday.

Pickett fractured his scaphoid with scans on Thursday night confirming the severity of the injury, and the 21-year-old is set to go under the knife on Friday.

"Unfortunately, Jarrod sustained the injury late this evening and he immediately underwent scans," Carlton's Head of Football Andrew McKay told carltonfc.com.au.

"At this stage, we believe Jarrod will be ruled out for the next three months.

"This is obviously very disappointing for Jarrod and the Club but we will fully support him in his recovery and we hope to see Jarrod back out there in the second half of the season."
