Carlton's Paddy Dow has been subbed out of today's clash against Essendon.
The midfielder suffered an eye injury from a head collision in the first term.
Dow tried to return to the field in the second quarter but the swelling to his eye made it difficult for him to see.

Sam Petreveski-Seton was activated into the game halfway through the second term.
Dow collected six disposals before being subbed out of the game.
Petreveski-Seton was named as the sub this week after a less than impressive start to the season.
