The GWS Giants are expected to receive a valuable boost for their huge third round showdown with Richmond at Giants Stadium, with star duo Josh Kelly and Toby Greene due to return from injury, and suspended ruckman Shane Mumford finally available for selection.
The attacking injection of Green and Kelly in particular will be highly valuable for the Giants, who struggled to convert ample opportunities inside the attacking arc in Saturday nightโs 7.10 (52) to 16.8 (107) loss to the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium.
โWeโre hoping to get Kelly back next week and throw him through the midfieldโ, said coach Leon Cameron after the game.
In relation to Greeneโs availability, Cameron was slightly less certain, but will give the elusive forward every chance to front the Tigers on Saturday.
โIf he's not right we don't play him. If he is then no doubt he will definitely come inโ
โWe've got to make good decisions. I don't know what that is yet. He's just a bit tight in his calf.โ
After a resounding opening round victory over Essendon, the Giants were brought back to earth by premiers West Coast over in Perth, and will face a monumental challenge against the classy Richmond side, who themselves will be aiming high following a heavy loss to Collingwood on Friday.
"We clearly weren't efficient and we needed to use the ball a fair bit better, so clearly that's an area of focus for next week's game," Cameron added.
โWe know we've got a huge task next week against Richmond, who clearly are going to be looking to bounce back from the weekend."
