Bevo's Team of the Week : Round 15

Defenders Back Pocket: Nick Vlastuin (Richmond) The Tigers defender continues to blossom in his role. Vlastuin had 22 disposals, ten marks and seven tackles to help the Tigers to an impressive 26-point win over the Swans on Thursday night. (Photo by Scott Barbour/Getty Images)[/caption] Full Back: Jake Carlisle (St Kilda) The former Bomber had 22 disposals and nine marks and shut down in-form Melbourne forward Tom McDonald on Sunday. Back Pocket: Rory Laird (Adelaide) Laird didn’t miss a beat in his return from a hand injury in the Crows' 10-point win over the Eagles on Saturday. The gun defender had 32 disposals at 88% efficiency and also took eight marks to be one of the Crows' best. Half Back: Jason Johannisen (Western Bulldogs) The silky Johannisen was back to the sort of form that won him a Norm Smith Medal in 2016 when the Dogs won the flag. He was superb off half back and racked up 23 disposals at a very impressive 94% efficiency and also had 400 metres gained which was like the Johannisen of old. Centre Half Back: Phil Davis (GWS) The Giants co-captain was terrific in defence for the Giants on Saturday night to help them to beat the Hawks by 11 points. Davis had 18 disposals and five marks and led from the front all night. Half Back: Kade Simpson (Carlton) Playing in his 300th game, Simpson showed there are still plenty of games left in him with a superb 37-disposal performance on Saturday for the Blues. Simpson gave the Power plenty of headaches and was at his best running across half back. Centre Wing: Andrew Gaff (West Coast) The out of contract classy midfielder showed on Saturday why he is being chased by other clubs with a team high 37 disposals for the West Coast to be their best in a losing side. Centre: Tom Mitchell (Hawthorn) The favourite for this year’s Brownlow Medal had another blinder in the 11-point loss to the Giants on Saturday night. Mitchell had an amazing 50 disposals, nine marks and 13 tackles. Wing: Callan Ward (GWS) The Giants skipper led from the front on Saturday night to help the Giants to an 11-point win over the Hawks. Ward had 32 disposals, 18 of them were contested, kicked two goals and had 11 clearances. (Photo by Cameron Spencer/Getty Images)[/caption] Followers Ruck: Max Gawn (Melbourne) Gawn was one of the best players on the ground in the Dees' two-point loss to the Saints on Sunday. Gawn finished with 25 disposals, 11 marks, 39 hit-outs, four clearances and five inside 50’s to have one of the best individual performances by a ruckman all year. (Photo by Quinn Rooney/Getty Images)[/caption] Rover: Josh Kennedy (Sydney) The star midfielder had another fantastic game for the Swans in their 26-point loss to the Tigers. Kennedy had 37 disposals, 23 of those were contested and nine tackles. Ruck Rover: Dayne Beams (Brisbane) The former Lions skipper was excellent with 33 possessions and a game-high 12 clearances to help Brisbane to win their second game this year. Forwards Half Forward: Orazio Fantasia (Essendon) The South Australian was instrumental in the Bombers defeating the Roos by 17 points. Fantasia kicked four goals, had 17 disposals and five marks. Centre Half Forward: Charlie Curnow (Carlton) The young Blues forward backed up a great game the week before against Collingwood with an even better game as the lead up forward in their 21 point loss against the Power. Curnow kicked four goals, took nine marks and had 17 disposals and was one of the best players on the ground on Saturday. Half Forward: Josh Thomas (Collingwood) The 26-year-old Queenslander is in career best form and he was important helping the Pies win by 39 points over the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday night. Thomas had 22 disposals and kicked four goals and was a livewire up forward all night. Forward Pocket: Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) Riewoldt played one of his best ever games and had 23 disposals and took an amazing 16 marks, seven of them being contested to go with three goals. Full Forward: Taylor Walker (Adelaide) The Crows skipper was instrumental in the Crows' 10-point comeback victory over the Eagles on Saturday night. Tex kicked 3.4, had 22 disposals and also took 10 marks to be the one of the best players on the ground. (Photo by James Elsby/AFL Media/Getty Images)[/caption] Forward Pocket: Justin Westhoff (Port Adelaide) Westhoff is in career best form and will be right up there when it comes to deciding this year’s Power Best and Fairest. The Hoff kicked two goals, had 19 disposals, 10 of those contested and took six marks and was one of Port’s best players in their 21-point win over the Blues on Saturday. Interchange Bench: Jack Billings (St Kilda) The Saints midfielder was dropped to the VFL a month ago but has been superb in his return to the side and again he was one of the Saints' best in their upset two-point win over the Dees. Billings had 24 disposals and nine inside 50’s and showed why the Saints were so happy to draft him so highly him back in 2013. (Photo by Adam Trafford/AFL Media/Getty Images)[/caption] Bench: Brodie Grundy (Collingwood) The Pies ruckman was fantastic against the Gold Coast on Saturday night, Grundy had 49 hit outs, laid nine tackles and had 23 touches to be one of the Pies' best. Bench: Zach Merrett (Essendon) Merrett had 32 disposals at 88% efficiency and laid seven tackles to help the Bombers to a 17 point win over the Roos. There was no doubt Merrett benefited from not having to deal with a tag from Ben Jacobs from the Roos who was a late withdrawal before the start of the game. Bench: Chad Wingard (Port Adelaide) Wingard has been back to his brilliant best since he was moved into the midfield a few weeks back by Coach Ken Hinkley. He had 24 disposals, kicked two classy goals, laid six tackles and had five inside 50’s to be high amongst the best players on the ground in Port’s win over the Blues on Saturday.
