Richmond coach Adem Yze has indicated that Richmond's spasmodic use of Campbell Gray as their 23rd player was likely a one-off.
Yze forecast ahead of the game that the fifth player on the bench would be a tall with limited time on ground, with Gray playing just 32 per cent game time as a relieving ruck.
The Tigers were forced to use him in the role, with none of their key posts - Tom Lynch, Noah Balta, Harry Armstrong, Jonty Faull, Ben Miller, Josh Gibcus - capable second rucks.
“I think the first month, we've got to just assess how that's going to to play out," Yze said at his weekly press conference.
“Having (ruck options) Samson Ryan, Mykelti Lefau, Tom Sims all unavailable, and Campbell Gray trained as a defender all pre-season and we've just thrown him in there for the last couple of weeks to help ‘Nank'.
“We'll start to think of those things moving forward so that's always going to be a consideration but that was just for the one game and we'll assess that post training today.”
Lefau received a club-imposed suspension for Round 1 following a pre-season drink driving charge, but will be eligible for selection this week, and will likely come into the lineup, given Faull's one-week sanction.
