Prior to the start of the first game of the season, Sydney Swans CEO Matthew Pavlich spoke to the Sydney-Carlton crowd at the SCG in tribute of the victims and their families from the Bondi terrorist attack last December.

While the speech also honoured the first responders and citizens who helped during and after the horrific event, it has come to light from former Swans player Gerard Healy that mention of the Jewish community - the target of the attack - was omitted from the speech.

Sydney Swans chairman Andrew Pridham will address the issue ahead of the Sydney-Brisbane clash on Saturday night.

Speaking on SEN's Crunch Time on Saturday, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said he wasn't aware of changes to the script.

"I don't know exactly the ins and outs of scripts and the like, but I think Matthew did a great job of hosting the ceremony," he said.

“The events of Bondi was an anti-semitic attack on the Jewish community, and completely at odds of Australians' way of life and their values.

“I think the tribute that was paid by the Sydney Swans, in conjunction with the AFL you know, you wish you didn't have to do it but when you do do it, it was the first game of the season in front of 40,000 people at the SCG, in front of over one million people on television.

"It was to pay tribute to members of the Jewish community who lost their life, to pay tribute to their families who are suffering now and the rest of the community that are also suffering and also the first responders. That's what was important.

"I think it was the appropriate forum and it paid tribute to those victims and again, what was a horrific attack on the Jewish community."
