Melbourne and GWS created history on Wednesday, as the two clubs exchanged players in the first AFLW trade to involve players only.

Melbourne have sent young defender Pepa Randall to the Giants, while GWS shipped midfielder Ashleigh Guest to the Demons in the deal.

Guest returns to Melbourne to play for the Demons for the second time in her career, after playing two exhibition matches for the club in 2016.

“I’m rapt to be coming back to Melbourne and I’m rapt that I’m back at the Dees,” she told melbournefc.com.au.

“I told my manager that I was interested in moving home and she went out and approached the clubs and got back to me with who was interested. It was a no-brainer when I found out who was interested in me.

“I found out that [women’s football operations manager] Deb [Lee] was keen to have me and I wanted Melbourne to be my first choice and then it all happened.”

The 27-year-old played in all seven matches for the Giants last season, averaging 9.7 disposals and 4.1 tackles a game.

Randall, 21, will join GWS after a year on Melbourne's list, although the quick defender didn't make an appearance last season.
