The AFLW have released the extended 22under22 squad, celebrating the young stars across the competition.

The initial squad features 44 players, set to be culled down to 22 when the official squad is released later in the month.

The Lions lead the pack with five selections, including league leading goalkicker Jesse Wardlaw, while Carlton, Geelong and the Western Bulldogs each have four nominations.

No.1 draft pick Montana Ham has earned a spot in the squad, while five other young guns - Alex Ballard, Hannah Ewings, Jasmine Fleming, Keeley Skepper and Rylie Wilcox - have been included in their debut seasons.

The 44-person squad was selected by former Crow Jess Foley, alongside an AFLPA selection panel, while fans will be given the opportunity to vote on the final squad between November 9-16 through the AFLW 22under22 site.
