Collingwood legend Scott Pendlebury has been cleared of his one-match suspension after the one-match rough conduct charge was overturned due to exceptional and compelling circumstances, resulting in a $3,000 fine.
Pendlebury will be available for selection in Round 3 against GWS after the incident, that was assessed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, was dismissed.
The Tribunal found that Pendlebury elected to bump Adelaide's Josh Worrell, and was subject to a rough conduct charge. However, given his clean record of no suspensions or Tribunal hearings, and a mere four fines throughout his 21-season career, the Tribunal saw fit that the Pies champ would be fined.
Tribunal chair Jeff Gleeson: "To have played 427 games of AFL football … and to have never been suspended is clearly exceptional."
The 427-gamer's incredible unblemished record of no suspensions continues.
Pendlebury gave evidence, confirming that he never received a suspension during his professional and junior career, including his time as a basketballer.
He is on track to match Brent Harvey's AFL games record in Round 7 against Essendon on Anzac Day, with the following week against Hawthorn set to break the record at 433 matches.
The hearing was one of note given Pendlebury's standing in the game as well as the reasons behind Collingwood's defence.
The Giants, in typical fashion, also made light of the situation.
