SEN's Sam Edmund has provided an update on the futures of Collingwood trio Mason Cox, Tom Phillips and Jaidyn Stephenson as the Magpies prepare for a busy off-season.

Cox has been linked to both the Swans and Bulldogs this year as several rival clubs look to add height to their lists for 2021.

Cox triggered a one-year extension clause for next season after playing a minimum amount of matches across his opening three seasons at the Holden Centre, warranting a $550,000 salary for the next 12 months.

Edmund believes that if a suitor is to make a serious play for the American, the Magpies will be satisfied to shed his salary.

“Cox was floated last year and we’ve spoken about it a lot. I think if a suitor came along they would definitely part with his 550 (thousand a year)," he said on SEN Breakfast.

Phillips is believed to be a in a similar position to Cox, with Collingwood reportedly already notifying the wingman he could be heading for the exit this exchange period.

“Tommy Phillips, same deal. A year to run on a contract, back-ended, more than 550. In fact, they’ve already told him that he could be traded and he’s open to that. I don’t believe there’s been a heck of a lot of interest."

Jaidyn Stephenson was reportedly placed on the trade table last Friday as a result of a tight budget at Collingwood, with the young forward failing to impress in 2020.

Edmund believes Stephenson will remain in the black and white for next year, with Collingwood keen to open up cap space.

“There’s been rumours for most of the second half of the year around Jaidyn Stephenson. I made a few calls on it, they assure me he will be there. He’s going to knuckle down. Hub life didn’t agree with him I think it’s absolutely fair to say.

“I think Collingwood would part with that money if they could just because they’re so tight but the player wants to stay and will stay. It will take something extraordinary.”
