AFL trade news: Giants forward reportedly undergoes medical with rival club

Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Finlayson is understood to have undergone a medical with Port Adelaide, per reporter Tom Browne.

The news comes as quite a shock for both Giants and Power fans, with Finlayson's having signed a new three-year deal with GWS last year.

The Giants spearhead's name hasn't emerged in known discussions previously in the build-up to this off-season either, certainly catching AFL fans off-guard.

Browne's report also gauge's some intrigue over the Power's recruitment planning, with the preliminary finalists having seen strong growth from the likes of young forward duo Mitch Georgiades and Todd marshall this year.

The duo have been accountable assets to pair with key forward Charlie Dixon, while ruck/forward utility Peter Ladhams has shown promise in attack over the past two seasons.

SEN's Sam Edmund revealed that Finlayson is yet to request a trade to the Power, however is looking into his options to get the best support for his young family and partner, who is from Port Lincoln, South Australia.

Finlayson began his career with the Giants as a defender, however transitioned into a reliable sharpshooter under Leon Cameron after a couple of seasons with GWS.

The 25-year-old has played 66 games for the Giants since making his debut in 2017, booting 90 goals so far in his career.
