Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley is confident Jordan De Goey wants to remain at the Magpies in 2021.

Buckley spoke about De Goey's love for the Magpies and what the club has done for him after Collingwood's 68-point semi-final loss to Geelong last night.

“Jordan (De Goey) loves the club and he wants to be here, elements of people on his side would like to see him remunerated as well as he possibly could and we want him to be rewarded appropriately as well, as we do the other 44 blokes on our list for what they bring to the table," Buckley said in his press conference after the game.

“I think that is what it comes down to because there’s no lack of belief for what the place has done for him, the opportunity it provides and the love and care and connection that he has not only to the club but his teammates."

Buckley confirmed that it is the monitor outcome that needs to be agreed before De Goey puts pen to paper on a new deal.

SEN Breakfast's Garry Lyon and Tim Watson revealed earlier in the week, Carlton is interested in the 24-year-old and has the salary cap space to offer a significant deal.

But Collingwood GM Geoff Walsh remains confident that the Magpies will re-sign De Goey along with fellow uncontracted teammates Darcy Moore and Brody Mihocek.

“I’d be very confident that those boys are going to re-sign and stay,” Walsh said on AFL Nation.

“We certainly want that to happen and made all those noises towards them and they’ve given us nothing back to say otherwise.

“I think our fans and people can be confident of retaining those three people".
