It's officially the 2025 AFL off-season, with the trade period opening today and the free agency deadline scheduled for Friday! All 18 clubs look set to be active in the player movement space, with some busier than others in looking to lure talent through their doors. St Kilda and Gold Coast pose as the biggest players in player exchange, while a host of players have already joined new clubs through free agency. Here we've looked at every club's potential trade and free agency moves, their current crop of off-contract players, confirmed departures and draft hand for the off-season. Adelaide Reported Trade Targets: Callum Ah Chee Off-Contract Players: Chris Burgess (unrestricted free agent), Taylor Walker (unrestricted free agent) Confirmed Departures: Matt Crouch (retired), Karl Gallagher (delisted), Lachlan Murphy (delisted), Harry Schoenberg (delisted), Brodie Smith (retired), Kieran Strachan (delisted) Draft Hand: 15, 46, 53, 55, 71, 73 The Crows missed out on wantaway star Christian Petracca, but will bolster their front half through two-time Brisbane premiership player Callum Ah Chee. Essendon's Zach Merrett appears set to join Hawthorn unless he is held to his contract. Veteran Taylor Walker will also continue in 2026, with confirmation on his new deal imminent. Defender Jordon Butts continues to be flagged as a potential trade option for rivals, but is likely to remain at West Lakes. Brisbane Reported Trade Targets: Oscar Allen, Sam Draper Off-Contract Players: Luke Beecken, Darcy Fort, Darragh Joyce (unrestricted free agent), Lincoln McCarthy, Conor McKenna, James Tunstill Confirmed Departures: - Darcy Craven (delisted), Sam Day (retired), Deven Robertson (trade), Brandon Starcevich (free agency), Callum Ah Chee (trade), Brandon Ryan (delisted) Draft Hand: 19, 42, 45, 51, 54, 66, 77 The Lions farewelled dual premiership heroes Brandon Starcevich (West Coast) and Callum Ah Chee (Adelaide), while Deven Robertson is expected to find his way to the Eagles also. The reigning premiers will secure the services of Oscar Allen this week after recruiting Sam Draper via free agency on Saturday. Pick 21 is expected to get to the Lions as part of a deal that sees Starcevich head West. Liam Reidy and Campbell Chesser will cross the Nullaboor and join Carlton, while Buku Khamis also has an interest in donning the navy blue in 2026. Hawthorn's Changkuoth Jiath is another prospect that could be lured for a senior opportunity. The Steven May interest has waned, while Lachie Sullivan and Mason Cox could remain at the club, but have been told to wait until the end of the trade period. Bailey Humphrey has been linked to Collingwood despite the Suns' stance, however it's unclear how the Magpies would be able to attain the young star given their lack of picks and tight salary. Hawthorn's Jai Serong has been chased by multiple clubs, although it is believed that he will be choosing Sydney. Essendon will work with the Hawks to assess a deal for captain Zach Merrett, while the compensation for Sam Draper is Pick 20 (currently). A trio of Bombers (Ben Hobbs, Luamon Lual, Will Setterfield) all remain in limbo for 2026. McVee's interest in returning to his home state saw the out-of-contract Demon flag Fremantle as a new home, and he will find his way there. The Dockers have also flagged an intention to improve their draft hand, with their first pick coming at 12th overall, and will likely get pushed back due to Academy/father-son prospect bids and free agency compensation. Geelong will struggle to broker a satisfactory deal for Charlie Curnow and Carlton, hence why their attention is largely on Marshall. They also have a host of contract calls to make, including veterans Rhys Stanley, Jed Bews and Cam Guthrie. Gold Coast Reported Trade Targets: Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Christian Petracca Off-Contract Players: Oscar Adams, Asher Eastham, Zak Evans, Jy Farrar, Brayden Fiorini (unrestricted free agent), Lachlan Gulbin, Nick Holman (unrestricted free agent), Ben Jepson, Max Knobel, Caleb Lewis Confirmed Departures: Thomas Berry (delisted), Lloyd Johnston (delisted), Sean Lemmens (retired), Alex Sexton (delisted), David Swallow (retired), Malcolm Rosas (trade), Connor Budarick (trade) Draft Hand: 6, 14, 17, 35, 61, 72 A huge player in this off-season, the Suns will lose Connor Budarick (Western Bulldogs) and Malcolm Rosas (Sydney) to rivals, as well as Sam Flanders (St Kilda). They should net enough trade capital, including the Saints' Pick 7, that will be central to a deal for Christian Petracca. As a result, the Curnow play has all but been dismissed, but they will likely land Jamarra Ugle-Hagan on the cheap given the Bulldogs' desire to get him off their books. Bailey Humphrey and Ben Ainsworth are two names that have quickly become of interest to rivals given Petracca's impending arrival. Laverde won't officially join the club until after the draft period, most likely via the SSP. Jacob Wehr will join Port Adelaide as a free agent as early as Monday, while Wade Derksen, despite strong interest from Melbourne, could remain at GWS in a huge backflip. Sydney's Robbie Fox has also been targeted as a delisted free agent. Hawthorn Reported Trade Targets: Zach Merrett Off-Contract Players: Matt Hill, Seamus Mitchell (unrestricted free agent), Bodie Ryan, Jai Serong, Jaime Uhr-Henry, Confirmed Departures: Luke Breust (retired), Sam Frost (delisted), Jasper Scaife (delisted), James Worpel (free agency) Draft Hand: 8, 30, 41, 60, 74 Hawthorn's number one priority is finding a means to land Essendon captain Zach Merrett. Following James Worpel's (Geelong) departure, a spot in the midfield has opened up, and Merrett is the perfect fit. The Hawks will likely have to give up established young talent; Henry Hustwaite and Cam Mackenzie are two who immediately come to mind, while Pick 8 (currently) will likely be included in negotiations. Coming in will be Collingwood veteran Brody Mihocek, which has resulted in GWS' Wade Derksen being pushed to the side. St Kilda's Max Heath is also another option. Gold Coast's Brayden Fiorini is genuinely weighing up a move to Port Adelaide, but is also fetching interest from Essendon as well as the Suns. The Power currently don't have a first-round due to their 2024 trade period dealings, and it is currently held by Gold Coast. Sun Ben Ainsworth was a target last year and has emerged as a potential option for rivals again. Tylar Young has requested a trade to West Coast and is set to join the rebuilding Eagles on a three-year deal. Richmond will once again head to the draft, and is open to trading Pick 3 (North Melbourne's selection) to gain a pair of picks later in the first round. Sam Flanders recently nominated his preferred destination as the Saints, while Leek Aleer and Liam Ryan have long been linked with moves to Moorabbin. Max Heath is currently being courted by Melbourne. Pick 7 is likely to be used to lure Flanders south. Ruckman Rowan Marshall has requested a trade to the Cats and should pocket the Saints another first-round pick, while captain Jack Steele is another who could be on the move after being told he can explore his options.
