Geelong recruit Jack Steven has been hospitalised following an alleged assault on Saturday night.
The Herald Sun is reporting that the 30-year old was stabbed in the chest by a knife.
The Cats released the following statement on Sunday morning confirming the midfielder was injured in an incident last night.
"The matter has been referred to police and until their investigations are completed the club will not be in position to offer further comment."
The police are currently investigating the incident.

Steven was traded from St Kilda to Geelong in the off-season in exchange for pick 58.
The 183 gamer is a four-time best and fairest winner but battled mental health problems last year, restricting him to eight senior appearances for the Saints.
Steven missed Round 1 this season with a calf issue but was in the running to return in Round 2 in the days after June 11.
