The AFL is reportedly closing in on American rapper and actor Snoop Dogg for the 2025 Grand Final entertainment.

There's been plenty of "conjecture" that the league is keen to land the 53-year-old for the last Saturday in September, but CEO Andrew Dillon remained tight-lipped when probed about it.

"The Grand Final entertainment is important," Dillon said earlier in the week.

"So many people care about it, and we're going to have a big act that we'll be announcing relatively soon."

But according to Channel 7's Mitch Cleary, Snoop Dogg is all but locked in for the decider.

"One to leave you with around the grand final entertainment," Cleary said.

"There's been some conjecture around Snoop Dogg, will he or won't he?

"I understand he's still the AFL's number one priority. They're hoping to finalise an agreement in the next couple of days, with an announcement in the next four or five days.

"Snoop Dogg looks like he could well be on his way to the MCG."

Best known for his hits 'Drop It Like It's Hot' and 'Gin and Juice', Snoop Dogg headlined the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show with other hip-hop greats Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.

Snoop Dogg last toured Australia in 2023 as part of his "I Wanna Thank Me" tour.

It would be a major coup for the AFL, which has seen American artists Katy Perry and rock band KISS feature in the past two years, making Snoop Dogg potentially the third performer in a row from the United States.
