The AFL's marathon search to find their next CEO has reportedly come to an end, with Andrew Dillon to replace Gillon McLachlan, per 3AW's Sam McClure.
McLachlan announced his intention to depart the role more than 12 months ago, with Dillon widely tipped as his potential replacement throughout the search.
Dillon, the General Manager of Football Operations, has worked in AFL house since 2000 and has seemingly won the race against other candidates AFL CFO Travis Auld, Richmond CEO Brendon Gale and Bulldogs President Kylie Watson-Wheeler.
Recent reports throughout the AFL's Gather Round suggested that there was a push for Watson-Wheeler to succeed McLachlan, but the Herald Sun reports that the vote championed by Commission Chairman Richard Goyder didn't get over the line.
While reports suggest Dillon is to be confirmed as the next CEO, the AFL is yet to formally announce McLachlan's replacement.
