Whitfield was hit on two separate occasions during the Giants' four-point victory at GMHBA Stadium over the Cats, causing the Match Review Officer (MRO) to step in.

Both incidents were graded careless, medium impact and high contact, leading to a one-match ban for both players.

Whitfield was able to play out the remainder of the match but was shown to have swelling on his right cheek as a result of the bumps.

Blicavs will have a tough case to answer as he elected to bump the Giants veteran after he disposed of the ball.

Late in the final term, Whitfield emerged from a stoppage and handballed to a teammate over the Cat's utility, but was met by a solid bump that caught him high.

The umpire awarded GWS a downfield free-kick as the visitors remonstrated for Blicavs' act.

For the youngster Clark, his incident against Whitfield was in the second term.

As Whitfield is preparing to kick, the Geelong midfielder comes into bump and effect the disposal.

Clark makes accidental head contact but Whitfield was not awarded the free.
