The AFL's Match Review Officer has handed down six charges from Sunday's games, with  Richmond's Tom Lynch referred directly to the AFL Tribunal for striking.

The strike in question came in the second quarter of the game between the Tigers and Crows at the MCG, with Lynch swinging his right arm into opponent Jordan Butts' head.

The MRO has graded Lynch's actions as intentional conduct, severe impact and high contact, resulting in a referral directly to the AFL Tribunal with a minimum four-game ban to be argued.

A suspension of four matches would see Lynch unavailable for Richmond's upcoming games against Geelong, Essendon, West Coast and Collingwood, and would be next free to play in Round 21 against Gold Coast.

The suspension is the second against Lynch's record this year alone, with the Tigers tall forward having been banned for one game for a rough conduct offence on Carlton's Tom De Koning in Round 1.

Lynch has also been charged with a second striking charge on Butts and an engaging in a melee/wrestle charge, and can pay fines of $1000 and $1875 respectively with early pleas.

Butts has been charged with an engaging in a melee/wrestle charge as well and can walk away with a fine of $1000 with an early plea.

From the same game, Tiger Jacob Hopper has been charged with tripping Crow Dan Curtin, and can pay a $1500 fine with an early plea.

In the Sunday game between Fremantle and St Kilda, Dockers forward Josh Treacy has been charged with engaging in a melee/wrestle and can pay a fine of $1875.

No other players were charged from Sunday's action.

  1. The โ€œswingโ€ is a recognisable โ€œreportable offenceโ€.

However, before that, he kicked a player on the Ground (Worrell) in the head โ€“ why the F was that not reported.

Why are his feet around a downed playerโ€™s head to start withโ€ฆ even the thugs of the โ€™70s (like leigh matthews) werenโ€™t that low.

He deserves at least 5 for that, another 4 for the swing.
