Hawthorn midfielder Conor Nash is expected to receive scrutiny from the Match Review Officer (MRO) for his errant swinging arm against Geelong's Gryan Miers.

Nash was reported by the umpire for the action, which left Miers concussed on the field, and subsequently subbed from the match, replaced by Ted Clohesy.

The MRO has taken lightly to wayward swinging arms, especially if the contact is deemed severe, which in this case, would likely be the cash.

Nash's teammate Jack Scrimshaw received a three-match suspension for his errant arm coming into forceful contact with Essendon defender Jordan Ridley in Round 1.

Scrimshaw was charged with striking, deeming the action a reportable offence, viewing the incident in question as careless conduct, high contact and severe impact.

Ridley was concussed and missed the following week's match.

Last week at Gather Round, Fremantle's Patrick Voss also copped a three-week layoff for his swinging arm toward Nick Vlastuin during a tackle.

Vlastuin received a broken nose but was able to face Gold Coast a week after the incident.

Nash could face a similar penalty given the injury caused to Miers.

Earlier, Bailey Smith could also receive extra MRO attention for slamming the ball into Jarman Impey's head during the second term.

Albeit a unique incident that didn't cause discernible injury to Impey, a precedent had been set a decade ago, when Alex Rance was fined for throwing the ball at Joel Selwood in 2015.

Smith could likely expect a fine.

The MRO will hand down their findings from Monday's game on Tuesday evening.
