Collingwood ruckman Mason Cox can accept a $2000 fine after being charged with rough conduct by the Match Review Officer following the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

The charge comes after a third-quarter incident involving Brisbane Lions defender Darcy Gardiner, who collided with Cox as his head was placed over the ball.

Cox turned his body and would make high contact to Gardiner before being placed on report by the officiating umpire.

The collision has garnered further scrutiny from the MRO, who have graded the incident as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a $3000 fine.

With an early plea, Cox can walk away with a $2000 fine.

There were no further charges laid from Saturday's grand final.
