Carlton star Patrick Cripps is the sole recipient of a Good Friday penalty from the Match Review Officer after two games of action took place on the first day of the Easter long weekend.

Cripps, who played an important role in steering the Blues to a dominant 82-point victory on Friday afternoon, has received a fixed financial sanction for striking North Melbourne opponent Jy Simpkin.

The incident occurred in the second quarter, and given it is Cripps' second striking offence, the Carlton skipper will cop a larger fine from the MRO.

The fine stands at $3,125, but an early guilty plea can see the fine reduced to $1,875.

Intriguingly, Harley Reid has escaped any MRO scrutiny for his forearm hit on Essendon's Archie Roberts. Roberts took possession of the ball before being blindsided by Reid, who collided arms-first at chin-height with Roberts.

However, Reid has not received any sanction for the strike, with Cripps the only player to cop an MRO whack.
