Welcome to Craft of the Draft's maiden Mock Draft for 2025, with a total of 23 selections made in a 'live' count of how opening night for this year's intake might unfold.
Matched bids for Academy and father-son draft prospects are included in the Mock Draft, as are the estimated landing spots for free agency compensation selections.
Matched bids for clubs have seen their subsequent selection(s) dissolve from the draft order, pending the timing of the bids.
The 14 clubs involved in the Mock Draft were split between Craft of the Draft analysts Jonty Ralphsmith and Mitch Keating.
Jonty's Picks - West Coast, Essendon, Hawthorn, Sydney, Fremantle, GWS and Geelong
Mitch's Picks - Richmond, Gold Coast, St Kilda, Carlton, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide and Brisbane
Not Involved - North Melbourne, Melbourne, Port Adelaide and Collingwood
Pick 7 - Brisbane (Matched Bid): Dan Annable
| 6 RANK | ![]() | Dan Annable Brisbane Academy Midfielder HEIGHT: 183cm | â–¶+ |
Lions Academy talent Dan Annable comes in as the third matched bid in just the opening seven selections, and there's good weight to the idea of him receiving a bid by the Eagles or Tigers.
In this exercise, it's Essendon who pull the trigger, and are likely to do so once more should another top-rated club-tied teenager still be up for grabs.
For the reigning premiers, they add arguably the best pure midfielder in the draft to a flag-winning list for the second time in as many years.
Annable is a balanced, composed and defensive-minded onballer who will likely thrive off a debut season likely spent in the VFL for most of the year, but there's no discounting his chances of slotting into the senior side much like Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall managed in their maiden campaigns.
