Pick 10 - Essendon: Sam Cumming
| 9 RANK | ![]() | Sam Cumming North Adelaide Midfielder/Forward HEIGHT: 186cm | â–¶+ |
Cumming is one of several South Australians set to be swooped on in the first round of the draft following the state's undefeated U18s National Championships run.
The forward-midfield hybrid was among the Croweaters' best at the carnival, often featuring as a forward target who is just as damaging in the air as he is when the ball hits the deck.
His role and match-winning pedigree have him likened to the Isaac Heeneys and Mattaes Phillipous of the game, with Cumming's 186cm frame often a difficult matchup for the opposition.
Cumming proved himself as a prospect with potential to have an immediate impact in the top flight, enjoying a strong run with North Adelaide's seniors in the second half of the season, which included a 21-disposal, three-goal effort in July.
