The AFL Grand Final will return to its traditional timeslot of 2:30pm AEDT in 2021, per AFL.com.au's Damian Barrett.

Club presidents were made aware of the AFL's decision to move the opening bounce of the season decider back to the regular afternoon slot following last year's night Grand Final.

Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 virus, the AFL trailed a night-time Grand Final while also having the match moved to the Gabba in Brisbane.

The 2020 curtain-closer received mixed reactions from AFL fans, with the league already confirming that this year's match will be held at 2:30pm.

The AFL also remains hopeful that record crowds will return to the football this year and fill over 100,000 seats at the MCG to conclude the season.

The 2021 AFL Grand Final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 25.
