North Melbourne legend and AFL games record holder Brent Harvey has confirmed that he'll be pulling on the Big V once again in the upcoming Legends Game.
The return of the marquee clash after a six-year hiatus will mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of one of the game's greats from prostate cancer - E.J. Whitten - a true legend of Australian football, whom the game was played in honour of for decades.
Harvey played 432 games across 21 seasons for the Kangaroos, kicking 518 goals, whilst claiming five Syd Barker Medals, four All-Australians, a premiership medallion and an induction into the AFL Hall of Fame (2022).
'Boomer' also represented Victoria in the last official State of Origin clash in 1999, where he was awarded the E.J. Whitten Medal for best on ground for kicking five goals in a 54-point win over South Australia, as well as in the 2008 Hall of Fame Tribute Match, which celebrated 150 years of Australian rules football.
Harvey retired at the end of 2016, but has continued playing local football, suiting up for North Heidelberg in the NFNL before making a switch to Trentham this year in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League.
"I'm looking forward to it. Obviously, pulling on the Big V jumper when I was 21 years old was a pretty vivid memory in my career," Harvey said on SEN Breakfast.
"To do it again with some other legends - there are some big names there - to join that calibre is pretty exciting."
Harvey will join former teammate and Kangaroos premiership player Glenn Archer, as well as former champions Luke Hodge, Gary Ablett, Dane Swan, Brendan Fevola, Steve Johnson and Luke Shuey.
