The first week of the finals is all but confirmed, with all clubs having genuine claims to the premiership.

Adelaide will host Collingwood, Brisbane will travel to the MCG to face Geelong, GWS will be challenged by Hawthorn, while Fremantle and Gold Coast will battle.

But how does your club reach the grand final? And who could they face on their way?

Adelaide

The Crows' equation is pretty simple after claiming the minor premiership and, more importantly, two home finals.

Adelaide will await the Collingwood challenge next Thursday in front of the home crowd, with the winner likely to be deemed as favourites for the flag.

If the Crows WIN, they accelerate to a home preliminary final, where they could face the loser of Geelong and Brisbane, and the winner of Fremantle and Gold Coast.

If Matthew Nicks' men LOSE to the Pies, they will face the winner of GWS or Hawthorn at the Adelaide Oval, before an away trip to the MCG to face Geelong, or the Gabba to take on Brisbane.

Geelong

The Cats host Brisbane at the home of football and are perfectly placed for a second premiership in four seasons.

If they WIN, they will await their challenger in the penultimate week of football, which could be the loser of Adelaide and Collingwood, or the winner of Hawthorn and GWS.

If they LOSE to the Lions, the Cats will face the winner of Fremantle and Gold Coast at home, before potentially preparing for an MCG battle with Collingwood, or a trip to Adelaide.

Brisbane

A trip to Melbourne to take on Geelong should be viewed as gettable, and a WIN would put the Lions in the box seat for a grand final appearance.

Brisbane could host the loser of Adelaide and Collingwood, or the winner of GWS and Hawthorn, at the Gabba.

However, a LOSS to the Cats would still see the Gabba packed out, albeit against the winner of Fremantle and Gold Coast, before a potentially enticing match-up with Adelaide in South Australia or Collingwood at the MCG.

Collingwood

The Pies come into the qualifying final against Adelaide as underdogs, but will be chock-full of confidence that they can cause an upset.

If they do WIN, they will host a preliminary final at the MCG against the loser of Geelong and Brisbane, or the winner of Fremantle and Gold Coast, making it likely they'll face an interstate club as their opponent.

However, if they LOSE to the Crows, they could face a surging Giants outfit or Hawthorn, before tackling Brisbane in Queensland or Geelong at the MCG.

GWS

There are no slip-ups from here on in for the Giants, but they must get past Hawthorn in front of the home crowd.

If they WIN, they will face the loser of Adelaide or Collingwood at their home grounds, before potentially travelling to Brisbane, or facing Geelong at the MCG.

Ideally, to avoid criss-crossing the country, GWS would prefer that the Pies lose to the Crows and the Cats defeat the Lions before the grand final, meaning they'd play three straight games at the MCG.

Fremantle

The Dockers could feature across three different states, pending their surge towards the grand final.

They begin their finals campaign against the Gold Coast in Perth, but will be on a plane to face either Geelong or Brisbane if they WIN.

If everything goes to plan, the Dockers could then be heading to South Australia to face Adelaide, or play against Collingwood in Melbourne.

Ideally, Fremantle would face the Cats and the Pies in successive weeks, leading into the grand final.

Gold Coast

The Suns will be undergoing the biggest trip in the AFL for their first-ever final, heading to Perth to take on Fremantle.

They might need to pack extra bags, given they could face Geelong in the semi-final. Ideally, the Lions would lose, allowing them to return home.

What awaits them is either a trip to Adelaide or Melbourne to face the Crows or Collingwood.

Hawthorn

The Hawks could potentially play three 'home' finals if they WIN over the Giants in Sydney.

A match-up with Collingwood looms in the second week of September, although a trip to Adelaide is still on the cards.

Then Geelong or Brisbane will await the victor in the semi-final, but could remain in Melbourne in the lead-in to the decider.
