AFL Draft: Top Mid-Season Draft prospects named in Young Guns squad

A 23-prospect squad has been named for Game 1 of this year's Young Guns series, with some of this year's leading Mid-Season Draft prospects from Victoria and Tasmania named in the representative side.

The Young Guns will face Vic Metro and Vic Country as part of the annual series, which sees Mid-Season Draft fancies and 2025 National Draft prospects go head-to-head.

The pair of matches have been platforms for past Mid-Season Draft selections to show their value after garnering interest from AFL clubs early into the new season, with former Pick 1 selections Geordie Payne, Jai Culley and Ryan Maric all featuring in past editions.

This year's crop includes in-form GWV Rebels over-ager Floyd Burmeister, Richmond VFL talent Sam Toner, promising Eastern Ranges defender Rod Ali and Gippsland stopper Zac Walker.

Tasmania's Oliver Depaoli-Kubank, North Melbourne VFL's Adrian Cole, Williamstown's Lucas Impey and Casey's Noah Yze - the son of Richmond coach Adem - are other names to watch.

Last year's Young Guns squad consisted of eventual Mid-Season Draft additions Tom Hanily, Will McLachlan, Cooper Lord, Iliro Smit, and the aforementioned Payne, while Riak Andrew and Joe Pike would be selected over the off-season's draft levers.

The first game of the series will take place at Avalon Airport Oval in Werribee on Saturday, April 26, with the following game against Vic Country scheduled for Sunday, May 4.

The AFL Mid-Season Draft is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28.
