Western Australia has been vocal in its hope for 10 or more players drafted in 2025, and a week out from the AFL Draft, the state looks like it will go close to achieving that goal.

West Perth defender/midfielder Jacob Farrow has bolted from outside the state's summer squad to be the leading contender to be taken in the 2025 AFL Draft, and could be the only West Australian in the first round after an indifferent National Championships for the Black Swans.

Dynamic forward Tylah Williams, part of the West Coast Eagles' Next Generation Academy, is a chance to attract a bid late in the first round after a strong season was capped off by a blitzing at the AFL Draft National Combine.

Mature-aged forward Leon Kickett, South Fremantle pair Fred Rodriguez and Toby Whan, the latter tied to Fremantle, ball-winner Sam Swadling, AFL Academy forward Cody Curtin and West Coast-tied trio Koby Evans, Charlie Banfield and Wes Walley loom as potential pickups later in the draft.

Western Australia's top prospects

Jacob Farrow (West Perth)

A powerful defender who can run through the midfield, Farrow rose sharply through the middle part of 2025, with many clubs enamoured with what he was able to produce at WAFL Colts level ahead of the U18s National Championships.

At 187cm, he has a big frame, which he uses to physically impose himself, and he's hard to beat in one-on-one contests, which provides the base for his intercepting and ball use.

Tylah Williams (Swan Districts)

A big riser in recent weeks, the West Coast Next Generation Academy forward blitzed the AFL Draft National Combine testing, where his speed and agility came to the fore.

A dynamic forward who doesn't need much of the footy to make an impact, Williams could attract a bid as late in the first round.

Leon Kickett (Swan Districts)

A bolter from the west, Kickett has come on in leaps and bounds in the second half of the season.

The 19-year-old Swan Districts small forward is noted for his high impact and ability to fly for marks, proving a nightmare when within scoring range for opposition defenders.

Also applies pressure when he doesn't have the footy, and has a sound athletic profile. A wildcard who many expect to attract attention early on the second night, 40 is at the very bottom end of his range.

Fred Rodriguez (South Fremantle)

A big-bodied midfielder who does his best work at centre stoppages, Rodriguez came into 2025 as one of Western Australia's most hyped prospects, and an MVP-winning National Championships and some strong footy for South Fremantle underlined his talent.

Hard to pin down and capable of getting forward and hitting the scoreboard.

Sam Swadling (West Perth)

Clean, hard-working and strong in the contest, the West Perth talent will offer clubs a balanced midfielder likely to be available at some stage of the second round of the AFL Draft.

Earned All-Australian honours after a consistent carnival for the Black Swans. Will start his career as a forward but does his best work higher up the ground where his hard running and ball-winning come to the fore.
