Victorian Adam Sweid is a 176cm half-forward/midfielder from the Calder Cannons.

The Essendon Next Generation Academy prospect has risen and risen throughout 2025 to now sit in first round calculations, with his rise and consistency remarkable given his 2024 season was wiped out with an ACL injury.

A strong-bodied, powerful player with genuine flair and great stoppage craft, he can burst away well and connects well inside 50.

The teenager has also been impressive with his defensive application and intent, particularly around stoppage, where his capacity to stick tackles and chase down stand out when his team doesn't win first possession.

Despite thriving in the Calder Cannons midfield in 2025, Sweid shapes as a player who is more likely to spend much of his career off half-forward given his profile and Essendon's needs, but he has drawn comparisons to Dion Prestia for what he produces in the midfield.

Has shown an ability to push forward and kick goals, while his decision-making in attack also stands out.
