AFL draft guru Kevin Sheehan has heaped praise on impending Brisbane father-son selection Will Ashcroft after the youngster dominated again on the weekend.

Ashcroft, who is the son of Lions 318-gamer Marcus, amassed 51 disposals playing for NAB League outfit Sandringham Dragons on Sunday.

Sheehan is currently the AFL National Talent and International Manager, a member of the AFL football operations sub-committee and a selector for the Rising Star award.

The 68-year-old spoke on RSN Breakfast on Tuesday, proclaiming his admiration of Ashcroft's game as the next wave of AFL stars continue on their journey to the AFL Draft.

"He's a good player, I can tell you that," Sheehan said.

"He had 51 [disposals] at the weekend ... even Nick Daicos didn't have 51 disposals playing in the NAB League against the other best kids from around Victoria.

"He's played at the Lions in the VFL and averaged about 24 [disposals per game] in those games.

"He looks a pretty special player. He can step straight in, he's a natural leader, he's got all the footy smarts you'd expect when his father's played 300 games.

"I don't think he'll miss a beat wherever he ends up, most likely Brisbane you'd think, but he's a fantastic player, [a] fantastic young man to boot, so you'd think that he's capable of going straight in and having an impact wherever he ends up.

"He has not missed a beat to date with everything he's done in the first half of the year."

Sheehan also flagged Oakleigh Chargers midfielder George Wardlaw as a potential top-five selection.

"There's a kid called George Wardlaw ... this kid was best on the ground for the Australian side against Collingwood's VFL," he said.

"He's a powerful brute, just think [the] body type of a Christian Petracca, his work away from stoppage [is] spectacular.

"We love his power ... look out for him."

The 2022 NAB League Boys season is in full flight, with the undefeated Gippsland Power leading the way after ten rounds. Ashcroft's Dragons currently sit in sixth position and Wardlaw's Chargers clinging on to a top-four spot.
