Following on from Thursday's captains day at Etihad Stadium foxfooty.com.au spoke to all 18 captains and asked them which player in the competition would be the most sought after.

The leaders couldn't be split in their opinion, with Richmond's Dustin Martin and Gold Coast's Tom Lynch picking up four votes each to lead the pack.

One player's prediction of Lynch stood out among the rest, with Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury selecting the player his club has already been heavily linked with this season.

“I’d say Tom Lynch, just because it’s pretty topical at the moment,” Pendlebury joked.

“He actually grabbed my jumper earlier on and looked good in black and white.”

Both Nat Fyfe and Patrick Dangerfield picked up 2.5 votes each, as North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell couldn't split the pair.

“It would be either Fyfe or Dangerfield. They’re pretty aggressive players,” Ziebell said.

Melbourne's Jack Viney was the only captain to not pick a current player, as the midfielder decided to go with one of his favourite players of all time.

“Can I bring back Chris Judd? He’s still my favourite,” Viney said.

Sydney superstar Lance Franklin was the only other player who received multiple votes.
