The AFL has cancelled the China game fixture between Port Adelaide and St Kilda as fears of the spreading coronavirus continue.

The international showcase is set to be replaced by a twilight match at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, June 7 - Queen's Birthday eve.

Both clubs will have their bye round a week before the now-abandoned match was set to take place, meaning Round 11 will consist of eight games.

The Saints were set to be paid to host the game in Shanghai, but now with the arrangement scrapped the Saints will choose to host the match at their beloved home venue instead of facing potential low-drawing crowds interstate.

St Kilda will be hopeful the timing of an afternoon bounce on the eve of a public holiday may just fill seats at Marvel Stadium, a venue they will now play at nine times 11 games.
