Contracted Gold Coast midfielder Alex Davies is reportedly "keen" to move clubs at the end of this year despite re-signing with the Suns less than 12 months ago.
Davies had strong levels of reported external interest in his services in 2024 as he neared the end of his contract.
The 23-year-old decided to re-sign with the Queensland club last September, turning his back on a potential interstate move.
That call came after a seven-game season that saw Davies struggle to break into Damien Hardwick's engine room ensemble, with suspension also limiting his exposure.
In 2025, Davies has remained on the outskirts of the Suns' best side, spending his entire season to date at VFL level, playing 14 games for a mean of 23.2 disposals, 5.4 tackles and 6.5 clearances each outing.
Davies' situation has again seen his name raised in trade talk, with AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey reporting that the Gold Coast Academy product is expected to be open to a trade.
"He signed on at the Suns last year until the end of 2026, but he is looking for opportunities elsewhere," Twomey said of Davies.
"I think he'll be keen for a move this trade period. He hasn't broken into the Suns midfield this year at all, so he is a name to watch again.
"I think he'll be open to changing clubs."
The Suns may continue to struggle to find a spot for Davies in their senior side, having Noah Anderson, Matthew Rowell, Touk Miller and Bailey Humphrey as their main magnets in midfield.
All three of Rowell, Anderson and Miller have deals at Carrara until the end of 2027, while Humphrey has a contract with the club for a year beyond then.
The Suns have also look to the draft to add to their midfield ranks, recruiting Academy names in Will Graham Leo Lombard and Jake Rogers over the past two drafts.
