The Western Bulldogs remain confident their injury list hasn't grown by two as the club continues to try and keep its season alive amid a "crucial" run home.
The Dogs, who fell to Brisbane by 10 points in a thrilling contest at the Gabba on Friday night, came away from the defeat with a pair of injury concerns.
Key defender James O'Donnell was assisted from the ground after rolling his ankle in the last term, requiring further treatment on the sidelines.
Utility Laitham Vandermeer was dealing with a suspected ankle issue in the second half, with the Dogs deciding to "pull the trigger" on their sub given that they didn't want to tread water on the call heading into the final term.
The Vandermeer substitution was listed as tactical, with the Dogs hoping both he and O'Donnell are likely to be available for Round 20.
"I think they'll be OK," coach Luke Beveridge said after the loss. "I haven't checked in with our (medical) staff.
"We didn't want to go into the last quarter scratching our heads and hoping Laitham would be OK.
"So we thought it'd be right to pull the trigger on 'Poults' coming on as the sub.
"I think Jimmy O'Donnell is going to be OK. He's tweaked an ankle here and there and come back the next week, so I don't think it's too bad."
If O'Donnell faces a short spell on the sidelines, it could mean veteran defender Liam Jones holds his spot in the senior side.
Jones earned a reprieve after not playing since Round 6 due to both form and injury.
Quizzed on Jones' role against the Lions in his return to Beveridge's side, the Dogs coach was short in his response.
"'Jonesy' had some good moments, but we didn't necessarily defuse some of those aerial situations like we needed to," he said.
"The backs will have a look at that, Liam will be a part of that.
"It's pretty raw straight after the game to give you too detailed an assessment of a player."
The most recent defeat is likely to see the distance between the top eight and the Dogs widen, with Fremantle, Hawthorn, Gold Coast and Geelong all still having games to play after the Dogs' loss.
Beveridge said the run home will be tricky if his side slides to a two-win deficit on the sides above them.
"They're all crucial," he said.
"We'd almost be a game or two behind the top eight after this one.
"Ultimately, we can't get too far ahead. I think we play a three below us and two above us.
"You'd have to say we need to win them all."
The Dogs return to Melbourne next week to take on Essendon on Friday night before a six-day turnaround to host GWS at Marvel Stadium.
