GWS gun forward Aaron Cadman has penned a new contract extension that will take him until the end of 2030, despite having a deal for next year.

Cadman, fresh off a six-goal haul amid a breakout campaign, has developed into one of the more exciting forward prospects in the competition.

The former Pick 1 showed glimpses last year after slotting 30 majors as the Giants made the semi-final, and has begun exceeding expectations, surpassing that mark with 32 goals after 17 outings.

Cadman's mobility and work rate forced his way into Adam Kingsley's side despite being held back initially in his maiden season, which has begun paying dividends to the New South Wales club.

The 21-year-old recently notched his 50th game, and his six-goal haul against Geelong on Saturday could arguably be his best match.

Kingsley was full of praise following Cadman's career-best haul.

"If you wind back the tape, I feel like I've been saying, 'We're really happy with him, he's just got to finish a little bit better, whether that's marking or whether that's kicking goals'," Kingsley said.

"But he keeps putting himself in a position to be able to win the ball, present, compete, support and help the guys at his feet.

"This has been building for a long while. Now he's probably getting the rewards for all that effort in terms of goals. But there's a lot more to his game than just goals at the moment. He's a really important player to our club and the way that we play."

Giants EGM of Football Jason McCartney said Cadman's contract extension was significant for the club.

"It's fantastic to have him locked away for the next five seasons through until the end of 2030," McCartney said.

"We obviously traded up in the 2022 draft to get Aaron with the number one pick because we could see what a talent he is, and we've been rapt with his progression so far and the player that he's becoming for us.

"He's shown a great desire to improve over each of his first three seasons and be the best player he can be, and some of his performances this year have shown exactly the sort of player we'd envisioned he could be for us.

"Getting to learn alongside the likes of Jesse Hogan and Toby Greene have been huge for Aaron, and we're really starting to see the fruits of his hard work, and we're extremely excited about what he can produce for us not only in the present but well into the future."
