The Giants may be without spearhead forward Jesse Hogan for their heavyweight clash with Geelong next weekend as the superstar recovers from a bout of illness and a foot injury.
Senior coach Adam Kingsley was asked about the status of Hogan post-game on Friday night and was unable to confirm if he would return next week or if he would continue to be managed.
"[Hogan] is not a lock [to play next week]. He trained today, did a 4km session today back at headquarters in Sydney and had no pain. He's feeling fine and recovered from the bout of gastro that he had," Kingsley said.
"There's no pain in his foot that's been troubling him for a little while. That's positive, but we'll just manage him as per the symptoms... He had a screw put in there, six years ago perhaps, and so at times it becomes irritated and it's something that he's managed.
"He managed it last year, he's managing it this year, and sometimes it just tips over the edge where we've just got to give him a spell."
Key defender Jack Buckley needed to be subsituted out of the Giants 59-point win over West Coast after rolling his ankle but the Giants will await scans before putting a timeline on his recovery.
"[Buckley] was pretty sore. We'll get that scanned [on Saturday]. I don't think it's anything else, anything serious, but it's a badly rolled ankle."
The Giants win boosts them temporarily into the top eight with a record of 10-6, the comfortable win also providing a healthy boost to their percentage. They'll return to Engie Stadium to play Geelong on Saturday afternoon next weekend.
