Richmond premiership forward Tom Lynch is expected to extend his time at Punt Road for another 12 months.

The Tigers are in desperate need to retain some of their experience and leadership, and Lynch, who posed as a potential trade target for rivals contending for the premiership, appears ready to remain put.

The 32-year-old has played 231 games since 2011, and recently notched up his 100th for the yellow and black.

Lynch played a pivotal role in the club's 2019 and 2020 premiership victories, and also claimed the Jack Dyer medal in 2022.

Channel 7's Mitch Cleary reported that Richmond is close to confirming the news of Lynch's extension.

"Tom Lynch, immediate talks this week are underway at Richmond to have him stay on a one-year deal," Cleary said.

"He wants to stay at Richmond. Richmond has shown their intention of keeping him for a one-year deal.

"Positive signs around Tom Lynch. I think it'll be wrapped up in the next couple of weeks."

Fellow former Sun and veteran Dion Prestia will also need to make a decision for 2026, as will Kamdyn McIntosh.

Youngsters Thomson Dow, Tyler Sonsie, Jacob Blight, Tylar Young, Jacob Bauer and Campbell Gray are expected to recommit.

Calls will be made on Kaleb Smith, Mate Colina and Oliver Hayes-Brown.

More to come.
