West Coast sensation Harley Reid is set to make a call on his playing future prior to 2026 when he comes off-contract at the Eagles.
Reid will have a year to run on his draft deal at the cessation of the current season, with the 20-year-old to - somehow- gain more headlines should he look to work through a campaign with West Coast, with his future unclear.
Reports this week have revealed that Reid's management have tabled offers to the Eagles that Reid would be satisfied with and therefore open to recommitting to the club beyond 2026.
One of those proposals is a two-year deal that has a nine-year option embedded, which, if taken, would lock Reid into the royal blue and gold until the end of 2037.
According to 9 News reporter Tom Morris, a decision from Reid - whether that be re-sign or seek a trade - will be made in 2025, avoiding the outcome of Reid playing in a contract year next year.
Speaking on Tuesday, Morris has stated that Reid's looming call is reaching the "pointy end", with the 2023 Pick 1 selection nearing a decision on his future.
The two-year deal Reid could sign will reportedly see him earn north of $2 million each season for the 2027 and 2028 campaigns.
"Harley Reid might not be out of contract until the end of next year, but this is why it's reaching the pointy end now," Morris said.
"I can tell you tonight, Reid won't go into next year out of contract. He'll either extend in the near future or seek a trade.
"His management is protecting him from a scenario where he's playing in a contract year for the Eagles given the spotlight on him already.
"My understanding is the two-season extension across '27 and '28 is worth more than $2 million per season, and $4 million all up."
Reid is expected to have high levels of interest from an array of Victorian suitors this year, with the clubs in contention for a premiership viewed as the more likely destinations.
Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn are well-placed for a move for the Tongala junior, who is tipped to fetch offers of similar value to what Reid's management are seeking from the Eagles.
