Former West Coast and Carlton star Chris Judd says the Bulldogs should pursue out of form Collingwood forward Travis Cloke in this year's trade period.

Cloke was dropped to the VFL three weeks ago after managing just five goals in the opening four games and is yet to earn a recall to the senior side.

However, he missed las week's match for the Pies' VFL side due to injury.

“I definitely think the Dogs are a premiership contender,” Judd said on Footy Classified.

“I think they run really deep with their smalls and their midfielders. They probably need a little bit more depth with their talls.

“If I was them I would be trying to look to get Travis Cloke into the team ... I think up forward you need three good talls.”
